Vessel No. 66 is a hand-built stoneware vessel with layered reactive slips, iron oxide, and multiple glazes. Fired to cone 10 in reduction, the surface developed fine crackling, carbon trapping, and flowing deposits of turquoise, cobalt, and soft celadon that concentrate along the rim before cascading down the form. The heavily textured rim, with its volcanic glaze buildup and irregular edge, contrasts with the quieter body below, where subtle tonal shifts, exposed clay, and linear fissures reveal the effects of atmospheric firing. The piece explores the tension between restraint and excess, allowing material and kiln to shape the final surface.
