Vessel no. 69
Stoneware, porcelain, oxides and glaze
9.5″ tall x 9″ wide

Vessel No. 69 explores the contrast between a quiet exterior and a vibrant interior. Hand-built from stoneware and fired to cone 10 in reduction, the vessel is finished with Shino glaze, iron oxide, and a turquoise interior glaze that is revealed only at the rim. The exterior surface is marked by carbon trapping, fine crackle patterns, exposed clay, and layered iron-rich brushwork that developed during atmospheric firing. A softly faceted rim and subtle glaze movement preserve the evidence of making, while the luminous turquoise interior introduces an unexpected depth of color that transforms the piece as it is viewed from different angles. The vessel balances restraint with moments of intensity, inviting close observation of its changing surfaces and firing history.
